||| FROM INDIVISIBLE SAN JUANS TEAM |||
Let’s pay tribute to John Lewis together, and to all who stand for civil and human rights.
Yes, Good Trouble is happening throughout our islands tomorrow. Please try to make it to one of these, and if we missed your event details, please let us know! Also, please send photos! We would like to submit to the media, Indivisible National, and keep them in our historical archives.
Please keep in mind, we much stay in this for the long haul. We ALL can get exhausted and lean towards apathy. Remember, the movement is all about mass mobilization together, supporting each other around the nation. Even though we are small islands, we do have a big voice!
Take care, stay hydrated, pause, breathe – and yes, SHOW UP FOR DEMOCRACY however you can. Please volunteer so not just a few carry the load!
SAN JUAN
JOIN US! Good Trouble Lives On! A Tribute to John Lewis and his actions for democracy and our civil and human rights.
7/17 12-1pm @ Jackson’s Beach Pavilion. We continue in the long haul!
Bring some lunch, and snacks and beverages to share. We plan to join together to create a heart on the beach and photograph, video| to send on to the media and Indivisible National. This also helps us connect and memorialize the history we are making together. Also, we want to know what Good Trouble looks like for you! Special speakers, music, “good trouble bubbles” with Gretchen, and overall, shared purpose in our resistance. TOGETHER we are INDIVISIBLE.
LOPEZ
The Lopez Island “Good Trouble Lives On” Vigil is this Thursday, July 17th from 5-6pm at the green between Vortex and Blue Heron. Please bring a sign with a John Lewis quote.
ORCAS
Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks on our civil and human rights by the current administration. On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’ passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.
On Orcas Island we are planning two back-to-back events. You are welcome to join both or just one.
We’ll begin with an open mic event in Eastsound Village Green from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. We invite participants to share a song or spoken word based on the question, “Where do I find inspiration to keep up the Good Trouble?” Feel free to bring a picnic dinner or get carry out from a local restaurant or food truck.
At 7:30 pm, we’ll have a showing of the 2020 documentary film, John Lewis: Good Trouble at Emmanuel Parish Hall.
