A grant from Orcas Island Community Foundation has funded the purchase of a lightly used, fully-electric blue Nissan Leaf from “Island e cars” and generously offered to pay for a locally based Project Coordinator. Volunteer drivers for each day of the week are being actively recruited now to begin free or donation-only rides and deliveries on-island.
Following is a brief job description for the Coordinator position:
IslandRides Orcas Program Coordinator Job Description
To meet the demand for free or affordable daily rides and deliveries on Orcas Island, the non-profit IslandRides service is accepting applications for a local Coordinator. The Coordinator will help recruit, train and dispatch volunteers driving an electric vehicle making trips daily on Orcas Island.
You will help develop and document the service as part of an emerging benefit to islanders who do not drive. Following are some expectations for the position:
- Proficiency in recruiting, training and orientation of volunteer drivers.
- Assure availability of equipment in clean working condition. Submit driver logs and restock supplies.
- Notify Director of any accident or equipment discrepancy.
- Occasionally substitute for an absent driver.
- Promote the IslandRides program with photos and success stories.
A generous stipend is offered for this part-time support from your home office for six months or longer. Contact Curt cvanhyning@gmail.com 360-317-8399 for further details.
