||| FROM KAREN BLINN for ISLAND SINFONIA |||
Island Sinfonia, the local inter-island orchestra, has resumed rehearsals after being halted by the pandemic in early 2020. If you play a band or a string instrument, you are invited to join the group for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoons.
We meet in the school band room beginning at 11:30 and work our way through new and familiar pieces. Jim Shaefer-Bauck, a well-known island musician, is the conductor. We play light classical and familiar music of Copland, Gershwin, etc.
Students and musicians of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Come to the band room or call Karen Blinn, 360-376-6579, for more information or to arrange to pick up copies of the music beforehand.
