Orcas Island photographers will celebrate the arrival of autumn with an exhibit of their recent work, to be held in the Orcas Center gallery beginning Friday, November 2, and continuing throughout November.

The exhibit will open with a reception for participating artists, their guests and the general public, to be held in the Center’s Madrona Room beginning at 5:30 p.m. Photographers with work in the show are encouraged to bring along a potluck food item and guests to help share in the reception. Photographers will have the chance to introduce and discuss their work if they wish. Let’s make it a fun party!

The show, sponsored by Orcas Island Camera Club, is open to all photography enthusiasts at all levels of skill and experience, from amateur to working professional. Participants need not be club members. There is an informal them of Halloween/Fall, but the theme  is strictly optional.

A major goal of the exhibition is to present as broad a representation of local talent as possible. The show is not a competition, and there will be no judging, awards or formal critique. Submitted work can be offered for sale or marked as “not for sale.”

To include your work in the exhibit, bring it to Orcas Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.,Wednesday, October 31. Be sure to have a sale price in mind. There is some simple paperwork to sign when you drop off your work.

Although most submitted photographs will probably be framed, that is not a requirement; in any case, simple inexpensive frames or mats will suffice. All pieces should be ready to hang.

For additional information about the show or your participation in it, contact Joe Floren of the Center’s Visual Arts Committee (VAC) (joefloren7@gmail.com) or Martin Taylor of the camera club (martin@orcasdigerati.com or 376-6935.  The Camera Club’s web site has information about the club. They meet regularly at 7:00 p.m.  to 9:00 p.m. at the Orcas Senior Center.
