Island Obstetrics & Gynecology – 24th Street Clinic welcomed Dr. Julie Watters to its clinic on September 18. Watters most recently served as Interim Department Head and staff Obstetrician/Gynecologist at the Naval Hospital on Camp Pendleton in California before finishing her Naval career this summer. In addition, she was an Assistant Professor for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland for the last four years.
Watters, a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colorado and completed both her internship and residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. She has served as Lieutenant
Commander, Medical Corps, United States Navy for the past decade.
Watters’ interests include managing gynecologic issues and complicated pregnancies and deliveries, and she places priority on minimally invasive techniques when performing surgical treatments.
“I enjoy caring for women at every stage of their lives,” Watters said. “Taking care of women is a special privilege, one that I am honored to be able to do.”
During the last few years of her Naval career, Watters and her family fell in love with Washington after realizing it had everything they loved: mountains, forest, coastline, and water. When she’s not at work, Watters can be found hiking, running or biking with her husband and their four kids.
Island Health CEO Elise Cutter is excited to welcome Watters to the clinic.
“She brings an earnest and vast array of interests in women’s health. Dr. Watters will be a wonderful addition to our team and our community,” Cutter said.
