We’ve Heard You: Updates to Our Phone Line
||| FROM ISLAND HEALTH |||
Island Primary Care – Orcas will now have a dedicated phone line into our call center. The phone number 360.376.2561 will now be reserved for our Orcas patients only, bypassing greetings and messages for other departments and clinics within Island Health.
Patients needing to contact Island Health’s main campus or the hospital may call 360.299.1300.
We are making this change to expedite service to our Orcas patients and better track the call volume for our Orcas clinic.

I would say this is a positive step in the right direction. Now if the next step were a person on Orcas at the Orcas Clinic answering the Orcas line that would be a very big step in the positive direction.
This is a step in the right direction. I also agree that it would be nice to have a real person answer. If someone could return the call as soon as possible, it would mean a lot. Health care should not be relegated to phone menus and firewalls. Even though it may not be the intent, it seems as if the patient is being forestalled as long as possible. Thank you to those who have listened. Perhaps call wait times can be reduced to a minimum with continued effort.
