Public meetings designed to introduce the San Juan Islands Scenic Byway planning process to the community, and to elicit input into the vision and content of the plan, were held on Orcas Island and San Juan Island earlier this month. The Steering Committee members include:

Attendees were asked to identify what was important to them in creating this tourism management plan. The public in invited to participate in a short survey about the plan at survey.constantcontact.com/survey/questions
Finally, a “Call for Inspiration” was issued to help guide imagery, the tone of the plan, and even the design of the logo of the San Juan Islands Scenic. The idea is to gather pictures, words, poetry, graphics, and other representations of the San Juan Island Scenic Byway. If used, original works will be credited in the final CMP. Submit your ideas, concepts, sketches, photos, graphics, poetry, descriptive words, etc. to:
Liz Illg, Scenic Byway Coordinator,
San Juans Islands Scenic Byway,
c/o San Juan Isands Visitors Bureau,
PO Box 1330, Friday Harbor, WA 98250.
The Call for Inspiration ends March 15. Shorter versions of the presentation can be given to private or public groups. Those groups interested in such a presentation are asked to contact Liz Illg at 378-6104 or by email at lizillg@rockisland.com.
