From the San Juan Preservation Trust
The trail to the summit of Guemes Mountain is ready for your hiking boots.
Thanks to the remarkable efforts of the Washington Trails Association, the Skagit Land Trust (our partner in the Save Guemes Mountain campaign) and many, many volunteers, you can now access the summit of Guemes Mountain to take in the views, the wildflowers, and the peace that comes from sitting on a mountaintop in the San Juan Islands.
Our friends at the Skagit Land Trust cordially invite you to celebrate the opening of the Guemes Mountain Trail on Saturday June 18th, from 10:30 am – 4 pm. Refreshments will be served starting at 10:30 am, with a ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 11am with guided or solo hikes up the trail throughout the day.
Directions: On Guemes Island: Drive straight off ferry on to Guemes Island Road for 1.5 miles. Turn right on Edens Road (this is the corner of Schoolhouse Park). Drive Edens Road for 1 mile. Stay to the right at the Y on to Southshore Road. Drive 0.5 miles, and parking will be near a large white barn. Shuttle service will be provided for the 10am ferry.
Come… put your boots to the ground and rejoice in all the efforts that brought this trail opening to fruition.
