The Brothers Grimm hit Orcas Center’s Main Stage this spring with an epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make: Into the Woods.

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with
disastrous results.

Directed by Jake Perrine, and starring an all-local cast, Into The Woods is one of Sondheim’s most popular and musically sophisticated works, originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine with Orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. Into the Woods is licensed by Music Theatre International.

Into the Woods runs April 25 – May 11 at Orcas Center. Tickets can be purchased online at www.OrcasCenter.org, over the phone at 360-376-2281 x 100, or in-person Tuesday – Friday 10am-3pm, and an hour prior to showtime. Ticket prices range from $18-$63 with a $2 per ticket fee.

And don’t forget, volunteers who help with iPad check-in or serving refreshments at intermission get to see the show for free!
