May Shiozawa, 94, passed away at home in Eastsound, Washington on March 2, 2020.

May was born in El Cerrito, California on May 5, 1925 to Hisajiro and Masue Honda. Along with her family, May was interned at the Topaz War Relocation Center in Utah when she was 16. At the end of war,she returned to northern California and met George Shiozawa at a church dance. They married in 1948.

George and May moved to Los Angeles in 1955, where they raised five daughters and owned a grocery store. They fell in love with beautiful Orcas Island and retired here in 1982. May enjoyed quilting, reading, socializing at the Senior Lunch and mending books at Orcas Island Library. Friends loved her spunk, humor and openness to new experiences.

May was preceded in death by George and her five siblings. She is survived by daughters: Judy (Reiner Feick), Alice, Elaine, Lois (Dave Horak) and Denise; grandsons: Bryce Yockey, Kyle and Erik Horak, and Clay Williams; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
