||| FROM LINDSAY JENNINGS for ORCAS ISLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION |||

This may have been one of the most challenging years for nonprofits across the country, with uncertainty still ahead. Together on Orcas Island, we have supplied much needed light and brightness for nonprofits, supporting opportunity and well-being for the whole community.

Thank you for being part of this collective work. Thank you for your support, partnership, and your belief in the power of neighbors helping neighbors. I look forward to building on this year’s accomplishments and shaping an even stronger and more resilient future for Orcas Island.

As I look to the new year, I’m filled with gratitude for each and every donor, nonprofit team, volunteer, and community partner, for the steadfast commitment to meeting our challenges together. I hope you join me in taking a moment to reflect and honor our progress.

There’s a great opportunity to celebrate community on Sunday evening! The Winter Solstice Luminaria Parade is December 21, starting at 5pm at Haven Road and Main Street (line up before 5pm!). Bundle up, bring your lantern, “Swim the Cosmos” and enjoy artistic performances following the parade in the Village Green.

The year ahead calls for continued commitment to serving the community and strengthening nonprofits that support essential needs, enriching experiences, and a healthy environment. Please consider a year-end donation to support our progress and momentum. We are here to help facilitate your gifts online or via QCD, stock, or with pass-through donations. Please note our winter holiday hours and learn more about various ways to give local on our website.

If you’d like to help our mainland neighbors with flood relief efforts, please consider donating to  the Skagit Community Foundation, the Whatcom Community Foundation, or The American Red Cross to support immediate needs and recovery efforts.

On behalf of OICF, I wish you an abundance of peace, joy and light this holiday season!
