[UPDATE: Orcas Issues initially reported the fire as being on San Jan Island.)
On January 5, 2015, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a report of a structure fire with loud explosions was reported to the 911 call center. Law, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the residence on Mud Bay Road.
Human remains were found inside the residence and are presumed to be the home owner. At this time nothing suspicious in nature was found.
A forensic investigation will be conducted by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the cause and nature of the fire.
