The House of Tears Carvers of the Lummi Nation are setting out on a totem pole journey to protect Oak Flat, a sacred site for the Apache people and many other Native Americans. The trip spans 33 days, 41 stops and 6,584 miles.
On March 9, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., The House of Tears Carvers will present a totem gathering, blessing & video presentation at the Orcas Island Library.
The totem pole journey is dedicated to brothers and sisters at Apache Stronghold; to communities in the Western U.S. and around the world who are on the front lines of mega-extraction projects and environmental devastation and to the growing movement of Earth, Sky and Water Protectors working to protect sacred sites.
