— from Dennis King for Lahari —

Hospice volunteers have a tremendous impact on the lives of the patients that they serve, the hospice team of which they are a part, and the families and friends of the terminally ill.

Medicare funded hospice services are provided on Orcas Island by Hospice of the Northwest. To make it easier to help our fellow islanders with their final days Lahari is helping to bring hospice volunteer training to Orcas.

Prospective volunteers are required to take 18 hours of training. The first 6 hours are taken online, and the remaining classroom hours will be presented on Orcas, on November 29 and 30.

Those that are interested in becoming hospice volunteers are encouraged to attend an information session on Tuesday, October 30, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., at the Orcas Senior Center. For questions or more information, call Lahari at 888-685-1475.
