||| FROM HILARY CANTY for ORCAS ISLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION |||

What a whirlwind 10 days! Thanks to everyone who has participated in this year’s GiveOrcas campaign. We have broken pretty much every record we can. We had more donors (940), more donations ($341,000), more and faster full funding (17 out of 25 proposals fully funded). All accomplished during a much shorter campaign (we dropped from 14 to 10 days). Such a fantastic community effort and the day is not over yet! I suspect by midnight we will have gotten all 25 proposals fully funded. Amazing!

As a community, we rely on the Nonprofit sector to provide critical social services, invaluable cultural experiences, expansive educational programs, environmental stewardship and so much more. Your support during GiveOrcas is a great way to thank those organizations that show up for Orcas day in and day out. Thank you for pitching in!

We will be celebrating on Thursday with an Ice Cream Social from 4-6 at the Episcopal Church. Representatives from the Senior Class will be there to reveal who they selected to receive the $10,000 for the Youth Philanthropy Awards. It is always inspiring to hear which organizations they feel made an impact on their lives. I hope you are able to join us!

OICF is also hosting an Introduction to Board Service on Tuesday May 28th, 10-12, in the Volk Family Meeting Room on Urner St. This is a great primer for folks new to Board service as well as a refresher course for folks returning to service. The workshop is free and seating is limited, so please contact OICF to register.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.
