Friday – Saturday, November 28 – 29, 7:30 p.m., Orcas Center

— from Artha Kass —

OS 2014Question: What hometown musical group performed at the opening of the Orcas Center and has been entertaining Island folk at Orcas Center around the holidays ever since? Answer: Why, the Olga Symphony of course!

Yes, hard to believe, but the fab five (Anita, Gordon, Z, Melinda and JP) return to Orcas Center on Friday and Saturday, November 28 and 29 at 7:30 pm replete with their usual sartorial elegance.

As one reviewer so deftly put it, “It’s not about the music.” But music there will be, old favorites, new adaptations of show tunes, folk tunes, rock and roll and more on fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bass, banjo and (lest we forget, but how could we?) saw.

It’s a holiday tradition for many islanders, and the traditional ticket price of $5 still applies! Proceeds go to the Orcas Center and other island charities as always. Plan to come for a fun evening of music and musical antics, but do get tickets early!

Tickets for The Olga Symphony are $5 and may be purchased at www.orcascenter.org or by calling 376-2281 ext. 1 or visiting the Orcas Center Box Office open Wednesday – Friday from noon – 4 pm. For more information about Orcas Center events, please visit www.orcascenter.org.
