Audrey Wells Piper Warrior380Come to this year’s first History Matinee this Sunday and listen to Orcas resident and Ports Commissioner Audrey Wells describe the history of volunteer mercy flights on Orcas Island. Audrey will have photos and stories to share about these wonderful folks who fly residents off island to receive medical treatment. She will also explain how she first got hooked on flying.

This is the Orcas Island Historical Society’s first History Matinee for 2016 and it will be held on Sunday, April 17th at the Eastsound Fire Hall from 3:00 to 4:40. Attendance is free.

All of this year’s History Matinees will focus on elements of aviation history on Orcas, to complement the new exhibit opening at the Orcas Island Historical Museum on May 14th: “Wings Over Orcas Island – An Aviation History.”
