Stories of the "Dorade" will be told at Sail Orcas dinner this Thursday

Thursday, January 26 at 6 pm at the Orcas Senior Center

Dorade is a legendary ocean racing yacht with a fascinating history including strong ties to Orcas Island.  This famous yawl was designed by a 21 year old Olin Stephens in 1929 and quickly won its first TransAtlantic race in record time. Dorade spent more than a decade in the waters of West Sound as the “camp boat” for Four Winds while she was owned by Mike Douglas.

Orcas Islander Doug Adkins has authored the definitive biography Dorade, The History of a Ocean Racing Yacht.

Join the Sail Orcas community for a scrumptious dinner to benefit Sail Orcas and enjoy Doug Adkins’ stories and photos of the adventures of this beautiful wooden boat.

Cost: $25/person donation to Sail Orcas (Under 18-$15).  Advanced tickets available at West Sound Marina 376-2314; Dr. Chris White’s office (Airport Center on Mt Baker) 376-5310; Eastsound Water 376-2127. Free Supervised On Site Child Care provided during presentation.
