Orcas Island Health Care District (OIHCD) sponsored a booth at the Orcas Island Food Bank on Friday June 17 for patrons to complete surveys for the 2022 Orcas Health Care Needs assessment survey.  Between noon and 6 PM, 57 surveys were completed and submitted. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and requests input on past experiences of island residents acquiring health care and their perspectives on what services need to be improved or provided in the future.

The survey may be taken on-line in English or Spanish at https://orcashealth.org/  Paper copies of the survey may be returned at the OI Library through June 20.

OIHCD Commissioners will receive a briefing of initial results at their regular meeting June 28.  Focus groups in English and Spanish will be conducted June 28 and 29 as well as later in July.  Commissioners will use the data to develop a strategic plan that will guide future service development and investments.  The plan is expected to be completed in September.

The Commissioners would like to thank Amanda Sparks, OI Food Bank staff and volunteers for their support and assistance in making Friday’s event a success. A comprehensive and effective strategic plan requires the perspectives of all members of our community to achieve an effective, sustainable system of care for everyone.  Thank you!
