Maintenance Handyman

Reporting to: Orcas Island Health Care District Superintendent
Job Description: From time to time the Orcas Island Health Care District will provide a list of one or more maintenance projects at the medical clinic owned by the District. The handyman will provide the expertise and experience to complete those projects or recommend that they be referred to an appropriate licensed individual. The handyman will not undertake any part of a project that requires experience in a skilled trade or licensure for that work. Some types of expected work include:
- Maintaining non-medical mechanical equipment
- General building structural maintenance
- Repair and of doors, windows, roofs and other parts of the building
- Maintain trash and recycling receptacles outside the facility
Compensation: $45.00 per hour – paid monthly in accordance with the current San Juan County pay schedule.
Benefits: Orcas Island Health Care District will provide coverage through the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries or worker’s compensation insurance.
Hours: This is an hourly, as needed, position. For each project that the District asks you to perform, you will provide an estimate of the number of hours that it will take you to complete the project to the District Superintendent. Based on your estimate, the District Superintendent will determine whether to have you proceed with the project or defer it to a later date. For all projects approved by the Superintendent, you will determine the days and hours that the work is performed so as not to interrupt the performance of services at the clinic during its normal business hours. All work will be performed to the satisfaction of the District Superintendent.
