Sunday, Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. at the Orcas Museum
In the second of a continuing monthly series of Sunday afternoon gatherings featuring Orcas ‘old-timers’, the Orcas Island Historical Society will be hosting long-time Doe Bay resident Harry Patton who will relate historical and humorous events that occurred in the Doe Bay, Sea Acres and Point Lawrence areas commencing in 1907 when his grandfather, Harry W. Patton, first came to the island.
Stories will include anecdotes about rum-running through Doe Bay during the prohibition era, community dances and the mosquito fleet passenger boat activities.
Donation of any amount will gladly be accepted at the door on Sunday Jan. 29 at 3 pm in the Main Hall of the Orcas Museum on Northbeach Road. Snacks, beverages and an amplified sound system will be provided.
