Our Mission

Our students experience a sense of belonging and will graduate fully equipped to meet life’s challenges – confident and independent life-long learners and passionate in pursuing their dreams and in bettering the lives of others.

Thank You!

Thank You!

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to thank each of you once again for your dedication to the children of Orcas Island. Our children are thriving as a result of your commitment and generosity! It takes a village (or in this case, an island) to raise a child, and we as a district and community are doing it very well!

I am thankful for Orcas teachers, staff, volunteers, and parents. We each have the opportunity to make a powerfully positive impact on children, and I am happy to say that I have the privilege of seeing our teachers and staff making the most of that opportunity each day!

As you gather with friends and family this Thanksgiving, remember that each and every one of us has the ability to positively influence someone else’s life. Without a doubt, you are someone’s blessing!

Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones,

Eric Webb

Special “Fall” moments with students

Stay Healthy

Over the past few weeks, we have seen an increase in the numbers of positive COVID-19 cases. If you or your child is experiencing COVID or symptoms of flu, cold, or RSV, please follow the current recommendations to take a COVID test and stay home.

Just a reminder that respiratory etiquette and good hand washing help to eliminate the spread of germs!

If you need at-home tests, you may pick them up at school or request that one be sent home with your child by emailing Cindy Sapp, csapp@orcas.k12.wa.us or Debbie Bruland, dbruland@orcas.k12.wa.us.

A Sense of “Community”

Did You Know?

It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a National Thanksgiving Day to be observed each November. President Lincoln, even in the midst of a civil war, understood the importance of setting time aside to give thanks.
