North Beach Road, between Main and A Street will be closed for Halloween trick-or-treaters between 3 and 5 p.m. The idea was first submitted to the County Council on Monday by Orcas Chamber’s Lance Evans. The County Council was able to push through the required resolution in time for the goblins to be safe on Saturday evening.

Roller-skating, pumpkin-carving and trick-or-treating. Ghosts and goblins, witch hats and black cats, cute kids in costume and bags full of stash.
Halloween brings all this and more. Orcas Island is no exception as preparations for the scary holiday are underway and the following events await your screams of delight.
Friday, October 30
PTSA’ s next roller skating event is October 30th! At the Old Gym on the Orcas Island School Campus from 6 to 9 p.m. Hope to see you all IN COSTUME!
Saturday, October 31
2 p.m.
Pumpkin Carving on the Lawn at Brown Bear Baking. Pumpkin carving will begin at 2:00 pm and will continue until the pumpkins are gone. Just bring yourselves; pumpkins and tools will be provided.
3 – 5 p.m.
Trick-or-Treating in Eastsound. Get the little ones ready to visit Eastsound on the 31st! Lots of shops will be open and expecting to see some scary goblins marching around town, looking for treats, starting at 3:00 pm … and continuing until 5 pm (some shops open later.)
Kids and parents are invited to stop by the meeting room at the Orcas Island Public Library for a chance to show off their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat for a book.
4 p.m.
Third Annual Halloween Party for Kids, Odd Fellows Hall
6 – 8 p.m.
Fall Carnival at Orcas Island Community Church. The free event will include fun activities and games, face painting and adult bingo, with chances to win candy and prizes. There will be hot apple cider, popcorn, cheesy nachos and cotton candy for all to enjoy.
6 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Rocky Horror Picture Show and Club Dance at Random Howse, Costumes & Fun 10 pm. Ages 21+
7 p.m.
Odd Fellows Monster Movie — FREE
8:30 p.m.
Odd Fellows Dance — $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12
