Helping Hands Noramise is responding to the urgent need in Haiti for sustainable food production and jobs by launching the multi tiered Limbé Project- providing jobs, education, and community resources, while making use of local labor and goods.

Numerous “Helping Hands.,” from Orcas and beyond, are actively working on the Limbé Project. These projects include building fish ponds, which will provide valuable protein to the local starch-based diet. This summer will bring the building of a public school in Limbé, and there is a plan to bring a group of Orcas youth to witness and participate in this. A longer-term goal of Helping Hands Noramise is to develop food preservation infrastructure.

There is a fundraiser on Orcas this week, hosted by seven island restaurants and shops. Please join us in supporting these businesses, Helping Hands Noramise, and Haiti on April 26-30th:
