Monday, August 17, noon – 3 p.m., Island Market
— from Jim Duffield —
The Skagit Habitat for Humanity Store truck will be at Island Market on the 17th of August from noon to 3 PM to accept donations. As in the past 18 months, this has posed an option for islanders while the Exchange is inoperative. Bring your “gently used” furniture, working appliances, building materials, hand tools (even the rusty ones), lumber, electrical, plumbing, and more. Watch for the flyers around Eastsound for more information.
If you have a particularly large item to donate that might be a chore to bring to Island Market, contact Duff at 376-3032 to see if a morning pickup might be arranged. Appointments will be few and the pickup site must be easily accessible to a large truck.
SHFH thanks all donors from our past visits to Orcas Island, and encourages everyone to visit the Store at 1022 S. Riverside Drive in Mount Vernon to see how donations are made available at reasonable prices to shoppers. The proceeds go to building affordable housing. Remember, the Store is only five minutes south of Costco in Burlington and is open to the public.
