Monday, October 27, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Island Market
— from Jim Duffield, Skagit Habitat for Humanity —
By request of islanders, the Skagit Habitat for Humanity Store truck will be back on Orcas on Monday the 27th. This time the truck will only be at the Island Market parking lot (on the west side), and will be there from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.–or until the truck is full. That only took three hours last month.
Until the Exchange is up and running, SHFH hopes to fill a need of Orcas Islanders. On the 27th, we will accept serviceable furniture, operating appliances, building materials, windows (vinyl clad), doors, paint (full or nearly full latex paint cans only), tile, tools–power and hand tools, even if they have a bit of rust. Since Habitat does not have volunteers who are able to repair appliances or mend furniture, it is important that donations be of the sort that could go on the Store floor to sell “as is.”
Contact Duff at 376-3032 or tpiduff@hotmail.com if you have questions. Also, if you have large pieces of furniture or appliances, contact Duff to see if a pick up at your home can be arranged.
