Two of today’s most acclaimed jazz guitarists will share the stage at Orcas Center on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.

Frank Vignola has been the go-to guitarist for an extraordinary range of artists, including Ringo Starr, Madonna, Donald Fagen, Tommy Emmanuel, Lionel Hampton, and both the Boston Pops and New York Pops. Guitar legend Les Paul named him one of his five most admired guitarists for the Wall Street Journal. Vignola has toured 21 countries on three continents, played venues from Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to the Sydney Opera House, and recorded more than 30 albums as a leader. He has also written more than 18 instructional books and hosts a weekly residency, “Frank Vignola’s Guitar Night,” at Birdland in New York City.

Italian-born, New York-based Pasquale Grasso drew international attention in 2016 when jazz icon and NEA Jazz Master Pat Metheny called him “the best guitar player I’ve heard in maybe my entire life.” Grasso’s style draws on bebop pioneers such as Bud Powell, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, blended with years of classical study. Audiences often say his playing makes six guitar strings sound like a full piano keyboard.

Together, the pair offer a rare chance to hear two masters of the instrument side by side in an intimate setting.
