Dear Mr. President,
I am appalled by your continued silence and the silence of the mainstream media on the situation at Standing Rock. I urge you speak up about it. In fact, if you really care, I urge you to visit Standing Rock and tell them what you are doing or why you think you can’t do anything.
Human rights and treaty rights are being violated there. Do you care? Do something to show that you care!!!
If we had 1/10th the coverage of the facts and background that we have of the absurd Barnum and Bailey circus going on in Washington,DC, and Trump Tower, the American people would demand action to preserve human rights and treaty rights.
Right now your thumb is on the scale in favor of corporate rights. Please start rebalancing the scale. Use your Bully Pulpit!
Thank you for giving voice to the glaring absence and deafening silence of leadership from President Obama regarding Standing Rock and the human rights abuses these Water Protectors have endured.
i’d like to know where is most of the media on this issue as well and why it lags as well.
Not only is the President silent, but so is the NYT. No coverage in the last week. Write them, the public editor, the editor, and leave a news trip. One of the great protests of the past 10 years, but the reputed “newspaper of record” is not giving it the time of day.
