from Susan Gordon Bentley

I saw first hand the damage to the Artworks building today as we set up for Olga Daze. The art from the building has been moved into the Olga Community Club awaiting inspection by insurance adjusters and it was sad to see so many long faces as many of the artists came to see what was left of their work.

On a positive note, many people want to help and money is already being collected. The Olga Strawberry Council, which holds the building in a trust, led by Patsy Stephens is setting up two funds – one for the artists and one for the café – and will handle the distribution to help cover the uninsured losses.

As a disclaimer, I am on the council as of a few months ago so this is particularly near and dear to me. The Olga Strawberry Council is a 501-3C organization so all donations are tax deductible.

We will have donation buckets at Olga Daze tomorrow, will raffle off Rose’s donated pie as well as a lovely basket of wines that was donated today, and the proceeds will go to the Olga Strawberry Council. In addition, the Olga Community Club will make a donation from the proceeds of Olga Daze.
