Join WSU San Juan County Extension for a workshop with Dr. Carol Miles, Extension organic vegetable specialist and researcher.
Learn the latest on soil management, veggie varieties suited to the San Juans, season extension, diseases and pests, crop rotation, seed saving, biodegradable alternatives to plastic mulch, and more. We’ll also visit an Orcas farm to practice vegetable grafting-a new, cutting-edge technique that boosts the performance of heirloom tomatoes and eggplants.
Agricultural Education Coordinator for WSU Extension San Juan County
Candace Jaegel says, “I hope you’ll put down your hoes this Friday, stamp the dirt from your shoes, and join us at this workshop in Eastsound on vegetable production.
“I know you’ll learn something valuable from our speaker Carol Miles–whatever your level of experience as an organic grower.”
The Orcas workshop is from 11 am to 4:30 pm at the Eastsound Fire Station. Registration is $25 , with a special $15 rate for farm interns. “Please encourage the next generation to come learn all they can to help them succeed in farming!” says Jaegel.
Pre-registration is required, at https://sanjuan.wsu.edu or contact Candace at 370-7664 or candace_jagel@wsu.edu. Call Candace if you need a ride!
