Caution: Traffic lights involved
— from Shannon Wilbur for San Juan Public Works —
GROUND BREAKING! Construction has begun with the removal of topsoil in the Nordstroms Lane area.
The topsoil will be stockpiled and reused for roadside restoration at the end of the project. Rock placement for the new road curve will continue into this week.
EDITOR’S NOTE: For those in need of a traffic light refresher:
Red means stop. Wait behind the stop line. Do not go through the intersection.
Yellow (amber) means stop. You can enter the intersection if you are so close that sudden braking might cause a crash.
Green means proceed through the intersection carefully.

The lite ‘light’ refresher is gyood. When the light was down in Westsound on Deer Harbor road everyone was good on red but when it came to green nobody proceeded. I had to get out of the car and prompt them. Having directed Air Force One into its parking station at Boeing field a time or two it was very dramatic.
Will this road improvement include bike lanes for safety?
