In 2007, Sam Green was appointed the first Poet Laureate of the State of Washington. Green is the author of ten poetry collections, including The Grace of Necessity, which won the 2008 Washington State Book Award for Poetry. In 2009, he was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Poetry, and sat on the NEA panel for the 2011 fellowships. His work has appeared in numerous publications including Poetry, Poetry Northwest, Southern Poetry Review, and Prairie Schooner.

Sam will be reading from his latest work and his wife Sally will be reading from her first book of poetry at Darvills this Friday, May 23 at 6 p.m. Sam has a new book out, All That Might Be Done (Carnegie Mellon University Press). Sally’s first book of poetry (limited edition) is just out: Full Immersion (Expedition Press, a letter press in Kingston WA).
