Contributed by Sharon Cary, Granddaughter-in-Law

Granny Lou turns 100 years old! Louise Spencer was born March 23rd, 1910 in Palisade, Colorado. She married Richard Spencer in 1935. Louise was a commercial artist.

They have two children, Beverly and Craig. Richard did mining consulting and they lived at times in Missouri, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Oregon, Philippines, Peru, Brazil, Washington DC and Washington State.

They spent four years with their daughter imprisoned by the Japanese in a POW camp in the Philippines during World War II.

They moved to Orcas Island in the early 70s and Louise still resides in the same home with her family. Granny Lou, as she is so fondly known, has three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

She will celebrate her birthday at the Senior Center in East Sound on that day [March 23].
