— from Brendan Cowan for Department of Emergency Management —
The devil is in the details of course, and the next few days will provide more info on what exactly this plan may mean for San Juan County. We, like you, have questions that require clarification. We’ll work hard to provide context and updates as they’re available. Now that the Governor has released his plan, we do expect that the San Juan County Health Officer Order, currently set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on May 4 will be updated shortly. We will release details on that as soon as it is finalized and signed.
Thanks for the ongoing patience and support of this amazing community as we move through this crisis.
Here is a link to a general outline of the Governor’s plan:

An Illegal order. I will not comply.
Edward, at the very minimum I would hope you’re planning to forgo any and all medical treatment should you become ill. Our already overworked healthcare providers really shouldn’t have to pay the price for your reckless little political tantrum.
hi Luther,
you should try to get outside more. breathe fresh air deeply. think positive thoughts.
the statistical probability is overwhelming that you will survive the pandemic.
no need to act like a thought policeman.
like the Dude said, “Take it easy, man!”
Thank you Scott, I’ll pass on your suggestion on to the survivors of the friends I have already lost to this pandemic. I’m sure it will be quite comforting to them.
And likewise you might want to get out of your walled compound on Kauai, maybe volunteer to help somewhere you can see this virus first hand, might change your perspective on just how safe it is.
luther, sorry to hear of your loss.
like 99% of those affected, i survived my coronavirus infection.
my message is based on hope and optimism, not fear and loathing.
the pandemic is not the end of the world, despite the best efforts of the fearmongers and junior commissars who would like to convince you otherwise.
the virus is basically extinct on kauai due to strict enforcement of effective quarantine rules.
btw, my “compound” is not walled.
The only thing missing in yall’s volley of opinions is mutual humanity. The ideas are well presented, and they need to be shared and discussed in a longer, rational form. Your intelligence is nimble and evident, and thank you for investing here.
Many people are turning to reliable academic and scientific sources for their understanding of the COVID-19 situation, as well as underlying ideologies.
truce — thread complete for my part
