8-1 GoodLovelies_Bikes_highresSince they last graced our stage, the Good Lovelies went on the Stuart McLean Vinyl Café Christmas tour and they took home two Canadian Folk Music Awards for best Vocal Group of the Year and Ensemble of the Year. They’re coming back by popular demand to Orcas Center on Friday, August 1 at 7:30 pm and you’re in for a treat!

The aptly named Good Lovelies are Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore, all of them best friends who rely on unerring three-part vocal harmonies, clever songs, and delightfully funny repartee on stage.

Funny and upbeat, with just a pinch of sass, the Good Lovelies‘harmonies, constant instrument swapping and witty stage banter have enlivened the folk music landscape since they joined forces in 2006 for their first show at Toronto’s funky Gladstone Hotel. Their tireless rain or shine outlook and undeniable mutual respect have helped the trio weather years of constant touring. With jaunts to Australia, the UK and the US, the Good Lovelies’ road-tested tenacity brings them back to Orcas Center.

Lighthearted songwriting and irresistibly buoyant dispositions have made them the darlings of the summer festival circuit, including spots at the storied Mariposa and Hillside Festivals and the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Their newest release, Live at Revolution —winner of two 2013 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Best Vocal Group & Best Ensemble — highlights the energy and variety of their live show.

Tickets for the Good Lovelies concert are $25, $19 (Orcas Center members) and $11 for students and may be purchased on the website www.orcascenter.org or by calling 376-2281 ext. 1 or visiting the Orcas Center box office open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon- 4 pm.
