The Orcas Island Community Foundation (OICF) is hosting a single-focus GiveOrcas campaign (www.giveorcas.org) now through July 8 to help finish OPAL’s April’s Grove, 45 affordable rental homes on North Beach Road in Eastsound. Nearly all of us know someone who lives in an OPAL home, or knows a business that has workers in an OPAL home – the need is big. Thanks to generous donors, we have $100,000 in matching funds to help us reach the $250,000 goal and get April’s Grove built!
Give on Tuesday, July 2, Ben Franklin Day, and your donation of $100 (or more) will be matched 1:1 up to $40,000!Give on July 5, Unique Donor Day, and we’ll add $10,000 for every 50 donors! Your $10 donation on this day could balloon by $10k…but you can give only once this day. Max match is $50,000. Please note, you can give on both July 2 and July 5 to maximize your matching power.
Other fun events OPAL has organized during this campaign include:
- July 6 – 4th of July Parade: Join OPAL in the parade; line up at 11 AM
- July 7: Dance-A-Thon from 4 PM – midnight. DJ Bruce Pavitt will be playing music through the decades at Odd Fellows Hall. Come by and dance to your favorite tunes from the 1940’s to the present
- July 8: Campaign ends at midnight!
