The Orcas Island Community Foundation’s Annual GiveOrcas campaign is up and running! Check out www.GiveOrcas.org to read and review the 20 proposals vetted and approved by the Community Foundation’s 13-member Committee. There is a full range of opportunities supporting the arts, social services, education, and the environment. The entire community is invited to participate as ‘Partners in Philanthropy,’ contributing at any level to the proposals that match their passions.

“Serving on the OICF Grants Committee opened my eyes to the wide range of needs here on Orcas. I can confidently say that the organizations displayed in this year’s GiveOrcas catalog have been vetted thoroughly by the committee and are all well-deserving. I can’t wait to watch as our community members step-up to ensure these amazing nonprofits get the funding they need. I will certainly be giving this year,” said Meagan Gable, a member of this year’s Grants Committee.

Requests total $278,866 this year; OICF allocates a portion of the earnings from its community endowment to the GiveOrcas campaign, however the total requested far exceeds the funds available. This is where you can shine as a Partner in Philanthropy. To participate as a Partner, simply make a donation of any size at GiveOrcas.org. (donations can also be made by cash, check, or stock; mail your donation—made out to OICF—to PO Box 1496, Eastsound, WA 98245, or drop by the OICF office). Your donation of just $10 or more carries our island tradition of neighbors helping neighbors forward. 100% of your gift goes directly to the program of your choice—OICF even covers the credit card fee.

Join us for the 2018 Awards Celebration at 3:30 on May 23 at the Orcas Center to honor the people and programs that keep Orcas a wonderful place to call home.
