Wednesday, November 21, 6 p.m., Orcas Community Church
— from Meredith Griffith for Orcas Community Church —
The Community Church invites you to join us on Thanksgiving eve as we gather together with the Episcopal, Catholic, and Lutheran churches in a community-wide celebration of thankfulness for all the good gifts we have been given.
“This is a new collaboration between the island churches. In the years to come, this service will be hosted by our different congregations,” explains senior pastor Brian Moss. “I am glad that we are coming together as a community to share in this time of gratitude.”
Everyone is invited to attend this service of thanksgiving at Orcas Island Community Church on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 pm. There will be music and a short message. People will also be given the opportunity to share their own words of gratitude during the service.
“I am thankful that Abraham Lincoln, at the height of the Civil War, declared a day of Thanksgiving for all to come together,” said Moss. “May we take encouragement from Lincoln, who said that Thanksgiving is a time to ‘fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation, and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity, and union.”
