What was the island like back in the 70s thru 90s?

||| FROM KATHI CISKOWSKI for ORCAS ISLAND GENEALOGY CLUB |||

Join us for a fun morning of unique and memorable stories of days past on Orcas Island! The focus will be on what the island was like back in the 1970s through the 1990s. Why? Because HISTORY LIVES IN US! We need to share and document our experiences!

How is Orcas different now? The fire hall, the clinic, “back to the landers” and hippies, and of course, the ferry system.

Our panel consists of people whose family lived here for generations as well as people who arrived here in the 1980’s or 1990’s .  We want a diverse perspective of island life 30-50 years ago.

We also hope to be able to do this live in the fall where we will focus on an earlier time period.

Everyone is invited. You do not have to be a member of the Orcas Island Genealogy Club to attend as this is a special meeting as we celebrate “History Lives Here” month on Orcas Island.

Join us on Zoom, Tuesday, May 18 at 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m..  For the zoom link contact Kathi or Vicki (see below).

The club meets (virtually during the pandemic) on the third Tuesday of every month from 10:30 to 12:30 and is hosted by the Orcas Island Public Library. To attend please contact either Vicki Leimback at vleimback@gmail.com or Kathi Ciskowski at 360-376-4186 or ciskokid@rockisland.com. There is a different topic every month. Anyone interested in genealogy (any knowledge level) is invited to join this free local club. A zoom link will be sent via email before the meeting.
