||| FROM KATHI CISKOWSKI for ORCAS GENEALOGY CLUB |||
“What to talk about on your Thanksgiving Zoom call 2020” is the topic for the Nov. 17 Orcas Island Genealogy Club meeting. Ranging from one-on-one interviews to lively family remembrances, oral history is a cornerstone of genealogical research, and planning a time to do this with family members will pay off forever. It is also a lot of fun!
This presentation will be offering some guidelines, important questions to include, etiquette, and some personal interview experiences. Club members can share some tips and stories about oral interview projects they have done as well as the different technologies they have used.
With winter around the corner and genealogy a very enlightening (and generally inexpensive way) to “time travel,” you are invited to join the Orcas Island Genealogy Club. You may not be heading for an exotic physical location, or physical holidays with the family, but you can attend monthly Orcas Island Genealogy Club zoom meetings and explore different eras instead!
The club meets (virtually during the pandemic) on the third Tuesday of every month from 10:30 to 12:30 and is hosted by the Orcas Island Public Library. To join please contact either Vicki Leimback at vleimback@gmail.com or Kathi Ciskowski at 360-376-4186 or ciskokid@rockisland.com. There is a different topic every month. Anyone interested in genealogy (any knowledge level) is welcome to join this free local club.
