— from Kathi Ciskowski —
The Orcas Island Genealogy Club is free and open to anyone who is
interested in exploring family genealogy–whether you have years of
experience or are just wanting to begin now. The monthly meetings happen
on the third Tuesday of the month in the library Community Meeting Room
from 10:30-12:30. The next meeting is on Tuesday, October 15. Bring a
laptop or other device that can connect to the internet.
Tips and clues to help you solve genealogical mysteries, or, in the
language of the hobby, finding your way around BRICKWALLS!
We have pulled together information that can help you move forward with
difficult research. Some of the things we will talk about include maiden
names, middle names, and changing jurisdictions. There are many other
situations to touch upon. This is also a good meeting for newcomers to
attend because we will help you get on the free library Ancestry website
and start you on your way to finding the history of your family.
Coordinators, Vicki Leimback, Rebecca Johnson and Kathi Ciskowski, as well as group members, will bring their organizational and genealogical skills and resources to share.
Call either Vicki (206-714-3348), Rebecca (360-298-6007) or Kathi
(360-376-4186) for more information.
