||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND GARDEN CLUB |||
Please join us on Wednesday, December 11th, when the Orcas Island Garden Club welcomes Lynn Johnson.
Create a stunning terrarium that will brighten your home this season. Lynn will guide us through the creative process while sharing an informative overview of these tiny, closed ecosystems, tips to care for them, and the science behind it all. We will use recycled, thrifted and locally sourced supplies wherever possible. The Garden Club will provide all supplies, although you have the option to bring your own glass vessel, along with any decorative hardscaping like a special rock or crystal, sea glass or driftwood.
Lynn Johnson is a plant enthusiast and earned her Master Gardener certification in Iowa in 2014. You can often find her behind the desk at the library, where she’s lucky enough to work with both books and plants, two of her favorite things. A few of her terrariums are on display at the library’s front desk most of the year.
Note: for those who follow along from home, there is a list of materials you will need for the terrarium on the club website. For those who attend in-person, please bring food to share at the social hour following the presentation. Our past president, Marlyn Myers’ silver tea set will be on display.
The presentation begins at 10 am at the Orcas Center and will be followed by social time. The presentation will also be available via Zoom. For a link to the live Zoom presentation go to the Orcas Island Garden Club website and click the link below the list of presentations. The presentation will be recorded. To watch the recorded presentation, go to the link ‘recorded presentations’ under ‘events’ on the club website. Garden Club presentations are free and open to the public.
