||| from Orcas Island Garden Club |||
The Orcas Island Garden Club is heading into the fall season intending that our members are informed, stay connected, and remain excited about the world of gardening. We would normally invite the public to our first general meeting of the year, but until it is safe to do so, we will be offering a monthly newsletter and a featured webinar each month, chock full of gardening tips, news of upcoming local events, member interviews, and a wide variety of topics related to gardening. We’re excited to be creating this new way of keeping in touch with our members.
This is also the time of year when memberships are renewed. Membership dues enable the Club to offer quality programs and to fund grants for the beautification of our community. Because of the safety restrictions on holding gatherings, our programs have been suspended as of March 2020, and we cannot predict when it will be safe for us to resume our speaker program and social gatherings. If anyone was a member in 2019/20, their membership has been extended to cover 2020/21 because our season was cut short by the “shelter in place” orders, but donations to support the Club are always welcome.
We encourage anyone interested in gardening to become a member. The membership fee is only $20 for the 2020/2021 year. Members receive the newsletter, have access to virtual meetings, Garden Club programs, and activities when it is safe for them to resume. Additionally, all new and voluntarily renewing members will have their name entered into a raffle for the months of October, November and December. Three lucky winners will take home some lovely sea salts from France or Israel. Sign up today and get your name entered into the raffle.
The membership form is available on the Orcas Island Garden Club website. Instructions for mailing in the form with your check are included on the form.
The Orcas Island Garden Club is fortunate to have a team of talented and dedicated board members and a membership of enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardeners. We look forward to the coming year as together we discover new ways to share our passion for nurturing beauty and growth. We hope you will join us.
