||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND GARDEN CLUB |||

The Orcas Island Garden Club is sponsoring a citizen science project called Project Blossom. Orcas has many microclimates that affect the bloom time of flowers. This project will help gardeners understand the differences unique to their neighborhoods.

In October, we were able to bag up a grand total of 1,074 gigantic daffodil bulbs into 215 white bags and hand out every single one of them to the community! We are keeping track of where and when the bulbs bloom. The final results will be displayed on a map on the OIGC website for the benefit of the whole Orcas Island gardening community.

If the daffie bulbs you received from the club are blooming, please let us know:
1. Your physical address and
2. The date they bloomed

Email us at oigc376@gmail.com. Share a picture of your flowers in bloom. You’ll be the first to receive the completed map of the daffodil blooms.
