Support the Orcas Montessori School’s solar project.

The Orcas Montessori School is installing a photovoltaic solar system! As part of this project, they are upgrading their heating system and installing a new roof and insulation.

In addition to greatly increasing the efficiency of the school, they will be offering teacher training and hands-on renewable energy activities for Orcas Island preschool and elementary classrooms this fall.

“We are thrilled to be producing alternative energy,” says Teresa Chocano, Director of Montessori School, “and we are grateful for the support from the community to conserve our energy. We believe it is valuable to our students to see these values modeled around them.”

Thanks to the generosity of the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, OPALCO, the Community Energy Challenge, Champion Roofing, and private donors most of the funding has been provided, but not all.

If you are interested in helping them raise the last $10,000, please donate online or mail contributions to Orcas Montessori School, 1147 North Beach Road, Eastsound WA 98245.
