The Odd Fellows Hall will be rocking on July 11 at 8:30 p.m. when Princeton, a Los Angeles-based countrified indie rock band, and Orcas’ own Blue Tarp turn their amps to eleven and launch an ALL AGES benefit show for The Funhouse!

Princeton, comprised of twin brothers Jesse and Matt Kivel, Ben Usen, and David Kitz are veering off course of their West Coast tour dates for a special Orcas Island appearance.

Princeton brings an indie-folk-pop vibe with sounds influenced by The Kinks, Wilco, John Cale, Scott Walker, Sam Cooke, and Cerrone, to a lively and intimate stage show. They have toured nationally and in the UK, opening shows for high profile indie acts Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot, Ben Kweller, Sege Gainsbourg, and more.

After playing the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas this spring and then the Lincoln Center in NYC with a full orchestra, Princeton was  signed to their first record label who will be putting the group’s third recording out this fall. Check out the band at their website https://www.princeton-band.com.

Blue Tarp, fresh off a battle of the bands win in Seattle and slur of gigs, will share the stage and bring their tight blues and rock attack. The show is a benefit for The Funhouse, with both bands donating their time and music.

Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults the day of the show. Advance tickets are available at The Funhouse or Darvill’s for $6/$8. Call 376-7177 for more information. If you are interested in volunteering or donating food/accommodations/etc. for off island bands for future shows, please contact zach@thefunhouse.org.

Founded by generous members of the Orcas Island community in 2001, The Funhouse is a non-profit community center with hands-on science exhibits, an educational film library, a pitchingcage, an art studio, a recording studio, a video production studio, a climbing wall and a computer lab. The Funhouse offers year-round arts and education programs for kids, teens and adults; andfacilitates several important programs for at-risk youth on Orcas Island.  Go to   www.thefunhouse.org
