2013 marks the 100th Anniversary of Washington State parks, and locals have taken the celebration into their own hands to insure this milestone is marked accordingly. Orcas Island gallery Crow Valley Pottery, in alliance with Friends of Moran and Plein Air Washington Artists (PAWA) have organized and are presenting a very special full day’s celebration and benefit art show on Saturday, July 27, from noon till 6 p.m. The festivities, to be held at Crow Valley’s ‘Cabin’ shop, feature a Moran State Park history exhibit by the Friends of Moran, 100 pieces of original art focused exclusively on WA State Parks and Moran State Park by Crow Valley’s roster of artists and PAWA.

A portion of the proceeds from all art sales benefit Friends of Moran, the volunteer-based, non-profit group whose services include providing trail maps, emergency phone, educational outreach, trail and park maintenance and clean-up, and park projects such as the Moran Creek Hatchery.

In addition, a special painting of Mt. Constitution Tower by artist Robin Lassen has been contributed to the ‘Friends’, and will be awarded via raffle on 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the Mt. Constitution gift shop and both Crow Valley Pottery shops. 100% of the raffle proceeds benefit Friends of Moran.

The day’s fun includes live music, presented by the likes of The 2 Daves, the Almost Canadian Classical group, Jim Litchfield and the gang, and guitarist Joe Miller. And naturally peanuts, popcorn and lemonade!

There is no cost for the event. Parking also provided at the Orcas Island Golf Course. Please call 376-4260 for additional information.
