7:45 to 8:45 am – Pam’s Power Hour at Odd Fellows Hall
Instructor Pamela Evans uses a mix of weights, stretching, mat work and movement to build strength and fitness. The workout is low impact and flexible to the needs of the class. It’s been described as “a great multi-generational workout!” Weights and mats are provided.

2 to 3:30 pm – Hypnotherapy in Healing with Carol Owens at Orcas Island Library meeting room
If you suffer from arthritis and/or joint pain, and are looking for new methods of relief, this presentation is for you! Carol will cover hypnotherapy and supplements, use of willow bark, mind/body techniques, yoga and Tai Chi Chih, Jin Shin and manual ligament therapy, and physical therapy along with stretching. She will discuss present day cutting edge research results; Clinical Hypnotherapy including self-hypnosis and its uses in pain control, stress relief and as sleep aid; the use of herbal supplements, OTC creams, sprays and gels, MSM, hyaluronic acid, et al.
Carol Owens is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, American Institute of Hypnotherapy Certified, and a clinical hypnotherapist. She has 43 years of anesthesia practice all over the USA, in operating rooms, delivery rooms, emergency rooms and pain clinics. She has practiced pain control for Osteoarthritis and Joint Pain since she was diagnosed with OA 25 years ago, now limited to Clinical Hypnosis and consultation. She believes in complementary medicine, the mind-body connection, and being proactive in our own care.
4 to 5 pm – Senior Strength Training with Cameron Krein at Orcas Senior Center
This is a chair-based (although you’re not sitting the whole time!) strength workout that you’ll love. Well, maybe not love but you’ll definitely be laughing and having a good time. Lift, stretch, and tone with as little as a soup can or as much as a kettlebell – it’s up to you, and the workout works!
Cameron Krein is a certified trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He specializes in strength training for seniors. He brings with him an approach to fitness centered around strength and balance.
