Orcas Island is having a storm of wonderful creativity this weekend and we invite you to step into the warm and twinkling Odd Fellows Hall for the Winter Artisans Market, Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday, December 6 – 8.
Forty Orcas Makers are sharing their works and ten guest ‘best of’ Lopez and San Juan artisans are all excited to introduce you to their unique, handmade creations.
Music, dinner and the youth program auction opens the show Friday night. This is a great time to shop for first-pick items from Maria Bullock’s baskets and Susie Shipman’s journals, to wreaths and flowers from the Carol Wetzel’s Little Farm, ceramics by Ayame and Yuriko Bullock, to first-in-show custom chairs by Matt O’Brien and exceptional jewelry including Bad Bee gems and a new selection of Celtic silver pieces by Keith Chatham.
The most unusual pieces in the show are madrona handled knives by Vincent Jacques and rustic bowls by Michael Higgins. Creations from nature, new to the show, come from Meg Moon, Bonnie Mahoney, and Victoria Parker. Woodwork by Laura Yeats, silver work by Chuck Silva, and glass by Kady Fox are more of the treasures to be found only at the Odd Fellows market.
Fresh baked goods and warm beverages are a delight on Saturday and Sunday, and stop by to see the pop-up Makery projects live – or pull up a chair and learn felting or weaving yourself. And if you don’t have a copy of Orcasopoly, now is your chance.
The Odd Fellows market continues the tradition of holding the heart and spirit of the creative and generous Orcas we all love. Come celebrate! Market hours are:
- Friday 4-8
- Saturday 10-4
- Sunday 10-3
