In conjunction with the Great Island Grown Festival Food Masters will be hosting educational opportunities in Eastsound on October 5.

“Walkabout Wild and Edible Medicinal Plants” with (Local Celebrity) Dr. Ryan Drum, PhD.

Two sessions: 10:00-12:00, and 1:00-3:00

Meet at the Community Garden/Bulletin Board right across the street from the Farmer’s Market (be on time!) This is a RARE opportunity to explore land, seaside, field/forest, and wetland plants with Ryan Drum. Find out what plants are edible and how to use them as medicine (and likely some other strange and interesting uses as well!) Cost: $15

10-minute Live Chicken Demos at the Farmers Market

11:00, 1:00 and 2:00 pm

Marta Nielson, chief hen at Rainbow Chicken Ranches in Olga will give 10 minute talks at the top of the hour with live chickens to view and hold! Bring your questions about chicken raising, health, breed, feed and more.

The chicken talks are free and open to all ages.
